There's blood involved!

Posh Spice, Victoria Beckham is known for her edgy style and personality which also reflects in her fashion line. Turns out she believes in unconventional methods of skincare as well when recently she shared a product she  added to her skincare regime. It’s no ordinary product, costs a whopping  £1,200 and more interestingly contains her own blood. Yes, looks like she maybe a fan of vampires and the idea of injecting or slathering her own blood on her skin in the form of a cream does not gross her out!

WHAT’S THE SCIENCE?

As bizarre as it may sound, there is science to back blood-infusion skincare and we’re pretty sure you’re aware of ‘vampire facials’ that were all the rage last year. Beckham’s dermatologist, Dr. Barbara Sturm who is in fact the woman behind ‘vampire facials’ and ‘blood-infused creams’ swears by these skincare methods. It may sound as something right out of a sci-fi novel, but the way in which Sturm creates her personalized MC1 Blood Moisturiser for her clients is not all that complicated.

According to Into The Gloss writer Emily Ferber who had the opportunity of meeting Sturm and getting her personalised cream, Sturm “funnels a client’s blood through a special vial that stimulates the blood to react like you’ve been injured. It’s those resulting, healing proteins that fuel the cream.” According to the Daily Mail, these proteins are IL-1 and TGF-beta, which “can lead to reduced inflammation, strengthened tissue and collagen growth.”

CELEBRITIES GO DOWN THE BLOODY PATH

Beckham is not the only celebrity who took the bloody path, Bailey Haldwin and Kim Kardashian also majorly swear by blood-infused skincare products and facials. Posh Spice is not only particular about her skincare but she is also inculcating the habit of looking after one’s skin in her 7-year-old daughter, Harper who was seen on her Insta story getting a fancy facial by none other than Dr. Sturm.
