Get in shape for spring with this season’s newest fitness apps

168

Spring is officially here and many of us will now be feeling ready to start getting in shape for the warmer months. To help get you started, here we round up three of the latest apps which will encourage, motivate, and boost your health and fitness regime this season.

Tasteful

Showcased at SXSW earlier this month, Tasteful aims to give its health-conscious users more dining-out options than simply “dry lettuce” with more than 100,000 healthy restaurants across 8,000 cities across the US.

Fans of the Real Food movement, Tasteful’s founders are looking to encourage and help users to eat real, wholesome and unprocessed food that nourishes the body, but without sacrificing the enjoyment of eating out.

Easy-to-use, simply click on your food requirements and area on the app. The app also invites users to suggest their favorite healthy restaurants, giving health-food fans a constantly growing choice of delicious but nutritious options.

Tasteful is available to download now on iTunes and Google Play.

FitCoin

Another app to come out of SXSW, FitCoin ‘pays’ you for working out, using information it receives from your wearable.

As a reward for your workout efforts, users will be paid using Bitcoin, which can then be used to pay for goods online. To receive payment you can do any workout you choose, and use any wearable. Your wearable sends the data of your workout to FitCoin, which then analyses it to find out how hard you were working. The harder you work, the higher the amount of Bitcoin you receive.

Although not available yet, you can sign up now on the website to receive early access.

Fitssi

Already popular in its native London, health app Fitssi has now launched in the US.

Describing itself as a social app as well as a fitness app, Fitssi will connect you with other fitness fanatics in your area, enabling you to meet new workout buddies and make new friends from a like-minded community.

The app will show you profiles of other users and allow you to search by activity, so you can bond over the same sports and head to workouts and classes together. You can also search a user’s fitness level to find someone on the same level as you, or someone a little more advanced if you’re looking for a challenge! Either way Fitssi hopes that adding a social element to exercise will help to make it more fun, and help users to keep each other motivated on their fitness journey.

The app is available to download now in the US on iTunes.
