Pakistan Super League (PSL) is set to get inaugurated in 2016. The twice-postponed event is scheduled to start from February 4th in 2016. The venue for the auspicious event chosen by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is Doha, Qatar.

PCB, since 2013, wanted to move forward with this project but lack of sponsors and logistic problems proved to be major hindrances.

Former chairman PCB, Najam Sethi, announced the prize money of the event, which is set to be a staggering $1 million (100 million rupees).

“February 4-24 with a prize money of $1 million and we are getting a great and enormous response from sponsors and players from foreign countries,” Sethi added.

The main idea behind organizing the event is to promote a good image of Pakistan and allow young and senior players to play and compete with foreign players in a secure, friendly environment.

Considering the involvement of foreign players, a total of 25 cricketers will be recruited in teams.

On this, Sethi said,

“We are expecting some 25 players to sign for the event and out of these 15 players will be players of the highest order.”

He also said that, four players from West Indies and two players each from Australia, Bangladesh, England, Sri Lanka, South Africa and New Zealand will be top priority for recruitment.

No player from India will be given the call to play in the league as the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) does not allow permission to its players to play in a foreign league.
