Naan Pizza on the Tawa

Craving for a quick dinner that can be made in less than 30 minutes? Make this jhatphat naan pizza that can be made using naan from the tandoor. Just take out your tawa and add whatever ingredients are available in the pantry. Make a chicken tikka flavored naan pizza or a vegetarian one, or give your own twist by adding your favorite ingredients. It will be a hit in your family, especially with the children.

Chicken Tikka Naan Pizza

Ingredients:

  • 1 teaspoon oil
  • 1 teaspoon ginger garlic paste
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 100 grams boneless chicken, sliced
  • 1 teaspoon chicken tikka masala
  • 2 naan (store-bought or home-made)
  • 4 tablespoons ketchup
  • 4 tablespoons cheese

Method:

  1. Heat oil.
  2. Add ginger garlic paste and saute for about 30 seconds.
  3. Add onions and boneless chicken.
  4. Add chicken tikka masala. Saute and cook till chicken is tender.
  5. Set aside chicken mixture.
  6. Clean the frying pan with a kitchen towel.
  7. In the same pan, place one naan in the middle.
  8. Spread with about 2 tablespoons ketchup followed by half the chicken mixture, topping with cheese.
  9. Cover with a lid, and cook on low heat till bottom is crisp and cheese is melted through. Make sure the bottom doesn’t burn.

Vegetarian Naan Pizza

Ingredients:

  • 1 teaspoon oil
  • 1 teaspoon ginger garlic paste
  • 50 grams mushroom, sliced
  • 1 capsicum, sliced
  • 1 tomato, sliced
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • ½ teaspoon red chili flakes
  • 2 naan (store-bought or home-made)
  • 4 tablespoons ketchup
  • 4 tablespoons cheese

Method:

  1. Heat oil.
  2. Add ginger garlic paste and saute for about 30 seconds.
  3. Add mushrooms, capsicum and tomatoes.
  4. Add salt, black pepper and red chili flakes. Cook for about 1-2 minutes till vegetables are tender. Don’t over-cook otherwise the vegetables will turn mushy.
  5. Set aside vegetable mixture.
  6. Clean the frying pan with a kitchen towel.
  7. In the same pan, place one naan in the middle.
  8. Spread with about 2 tablespoons ketchup followed by half the vegetables mixture, topping with cheese.
  9. Cover with a lid, and cook on low heat till bottom is crisp and cheese is melted through. Make sure the bottom doesn’t burn.
