Research: Sleep Deprivation Increases Fat Intake

As per the recent ‘Penn Medicine’ study, published in ‘Scientific Reports’, it is found that sleep deprivation leads to weight gain that can last for long.

According to Hengri Rao, PhD, the research focused on brain function on eating behavior after sleep deprivation. The research explained the connection of lack of sleep and ‘salience network’ is detrimental, which connects to emotions and acts. In the research, subjects were monitored with an MRI and results matched with age, gender, ethnicity and BMI. The report would help people who work in evening and night shifts. The research was the first of its kind.
