Polio Virus Found in Sewerage Water of Islamabad

For the first time in the history of Pakistan, the Polio virus has been discovered in sewerage waters of Islamabad.

The institutions responsible for health and sanitation in the federal capital have been exposed. According to the Ministry of Health, the Polio virus has been discovered in the sewerage water of sector I-11, Islamabad.

These samples were taken in the last week of January. The last case of polio in Islamabad was back in 2008. But for the first time in the history of Pakistan, the Polio virus has been identified in the water.

There is a chance that from sewerage waters, Polio virus could reach humans via several ways.
