After setting up polio vaccination counters at major airports, similar facilities are being provided to railway stations by the Department of Health, Punjab. The first stage, which included setting up counters at the railway stations of Lahore, Rawalpindi, Attock, and Multan, has been successfully completed. The process of administering oral vaccinations to children traveling via train has commenced. Counters have been established in the main lobby and on platform number 5 at the Lahore railway station. The department of Punjab also set up a counter at the Attock railway station given the high incidence of polio cases in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The railway administration has assured the World Health Organization that it will support all of the efforts underway to curb the spread of polio and eradicate it from the country.
