Polio update: It has been reported that Polio is once again coming up in the northern parts of the country. More than 10 cases have already emerged due to poor nutrition and sanitation conditions. With Polio now successfully eradicated around the world, Pakistan, along with Afghanistan and Nigeria still remain under its spell.
Polio is a contagious disease that affects only humans. It spreads via human contact, and affects a person’s intestines and throat. The virus lives in the infected person’s feces. The symptoms of the virus appear approximately 1 to 2 weeks after a person has been affected. It may contaminate water and food in unsanitary conditions.
