Ayesha Tammy Haq, Executive Commissioner of the Pharma Bureau, expressed her ready acceptance of the recent guidelines issued by the Drug Authority. The guidelines are based on keeping checks and balances on available medications and their promotional activities. She added that the Pharma Bureau was already following set rules and regulations. The Drug Authority’s policies and practices would serve to make the process more consistent and transparent. Haq emphasized the importance of keeping an eye on the ethical content of promotional materials for medications. These new rules would make it easier for the bureau to ensure that ethics were not compromised in the promotional material being used. The bureau, she explained, followed a set of regulations established by an ethics committee which dealt with topics of Law, Finance, Medicine, and of course Ethics.
