An unidentified illness has been sweeping through the state of Bihar, causing dozens of deaths and leaving scores of others in a critical state. The main victims of this disease are children. Up until Saturday, the death count was confirmed to be 19 while 70 children were undergoing treatment at various hospitals. According to the Chief Secretary of Health for the state of Bihar, Deepak Kumar, this illness has shown a recurring pattern over the last few years. However, since the past 2-3 years, it has struck with a vengeance and affected countless children across the state. While the causes of the illness and its origins remain unknown, the Secretary of Health stated that all precautionary treatment measures were being taken to ensure that the affected children were nursed successfully back to health.
