A three day Polio eradication campaign has begun in Karachi. Today, on the second day of the campaign, strict security measures were observed throughout the city.
During the campaign, 680000 children under the age of 5 would be provided with polio vaccines in 39 union councils of Karachi. All arrangements of the campaign and security measures for volunteers have been made. EPI Deputy Program Manager, Dr. Dernaz Jamal, informed that the campaign on the first day was largely held in union councils of district South and West where a good coverage was conducted. She informed that a campaign would be run from 2nd to 5th March in 32 union councils of the district East, Malir and Korangi during which 437800 children have been aimed to be vaccinated.
