Meditate

Feeling Down? Sit down, cross your legs, close your eyes and focus on your breathing. That’s how meditation is done, and you will start to clear your mind automatically. Meditation is a useful way to clear your mind and relax and sessions can last as little as 10 minutes long.  Like everything good though, the more you practice meditation, the better you will get and more relaxed you will feel. Meditation has been shown to not only provide an ease of mind but improve symptoms of pain, sleep problems, depression, asthma and many others

Yoga

Yoga is another great way to relax and works concurrently with meditation. Yoga is based more on holding poses for a period of time as well as breathing techniques. In that way, it can be a great light workout or a good stretching session. A study was conducted in which it noticed that the people who practiced yoga regularly produced less of a hormone that is triggered by stress.

Exercise

Exercise may work up a sweat during a workout and cause you to get but it also releases endorphins, which are basically feel-good hormones and have been shown to improve mood, making you feel more relaxed after a workout. So the next time you are feeling stressed, go take a run in the park. Even moderate exercise, such as walking on the treadmill for 20 minutes four days a week will start to make you feel better.

Spa Time

Struggles come daily in some form or another and not only does your mind take all the beating, but so does your body. Take some time once a month or every other month to go to the spa and treat your body well. The spa is not just reserved for the ladies, but it can be for the guys as well. Get a relaxing massage, spend some time in a warm bath, apply a face mask and for the guys, get a shave. Spa days can be really relaxing and can ease your tensions.

Smile

Over the years, research has shown that the act of smiling can improve your mood. Even if you are not particularly feeling happy, smiling can uplift your spirits. In addition, if you’re feeling stressed, laughing can produce the same effect. So the next time you’re feeling down, start laughing at yourself. You might feel weird and embarrassed especially if you’re around other people, but don’t let that hold you back.

Music

Whether you are listening to music or actually playing an instrument, music is a great outlet for people to chill. Music can improve mood and lift your spirits. The music should be to your liking and your favorite genre. So whether you’re into slow classical music, acoustic sessions or heavy metal, you’ll feel a lot calmer after a short musical session, whether listening or playing.

Take up a Hobby

Hobbies are great ways to remove yourself from your routine and to chill out a little bit. Even if it’s only for a few minutes, having a hobby can do wonders to improve your mood. And if you don’t have a hobby and don’t know where to start? Try gardening! A study done showed that gardeners were way less stressed after gardening than people who read for the same amount of time. Other types of hobbies are learning to play an instrument, reading, collecting some something like coins or stamps among others.
