Should You Drink Water During Workout?

Keeping your body hydrated is a vital part of your everyday routine, especially when you’re a workout enthusiast and losing much-stored water by sweating it off.

If you wonder if it is a good idea to drink water during a workout, then your answer is yes! It is a myth that you shouldn’t drink water workouts. Your body needs hydration, especially during workouts, because water helps the body exercise efficiently. It lubricates the entire body, and it’s a vital part of the many chemical reactions in the body.

How much water should you drink during a workout?

Your body uses water to produce sweat and keep body cool. So, during exercise, it is recommended to drink 7 to 10 ounces of water every 20 minutes in your workout. Unfortunately, some people drink as little as 100-500 ml water during workouts which is too little, even if you’re warming up.

The amount of water you should drink depends on the intensity of your workout. Keep at least 1 litre of water at hand, and keep sipping while working out. If your regular workout routine lasts about an hour or less and doesn’t involve much sweating, then you can probably make it without a few sips of water.

Dehydration isn’t cool

Lack of water during a workout can lead to muscle fatigue and affect your performance. Dehydration also causes muscles cramps.

Don’t wait for Thirst

If you are feeling thirsty, your body is already dehydrated. So drink as much water as your body needs before, during and after workouts.
