“I started developing numerous health issues to the point where I had to be taken to the hospital in an ambulance because I had a severe back spasm from simply getting up from the floor. It was so severe that I couldn’t sit, stand or move without feeling like I was being broken in half. It took me 3 days to get out of the hospital, and a few months of physiotherapy just so I could walk without help. And all I did was sit on the floor and get up!
My weight caused a lot of limitations. I have 2 young boys who constantly need my attention. I love playing with them but couldn’t because my back would pack up or my knees would give me trouble. I even started feeling a little conscious about my physical appearance. There even came a time when my endocrinologist suggested I should get a gastric sleeve surgery to take the weight off because if I didn’t get a handle on my weight soon, it wouldn’t bode well for me.
My weight loss journey started when I joined UC FIT. That was the first time that I could actually see the results of my efforts. My coach, Umar Chaudhary, was my major motivation who constantly encouraged me to keep moving forward. He has always stressed fat loss as opposed to weight loss. Umar taught me to focus on losing inches because the weight also includes the weight of bones, organs, etc.
My biggest struggle has always been my love and temptation for food and its quantity. I have to work very hard to practice portion control, and stay away from foods that I know are not good for me. Ever since I have found UC FIT I love my workout and am obsessed to the point that I never miss a class.
With my coach, Umar Chaudhary, guidance, and training it took me 2 years to lose 32 kilos and about 32 inches from all over my body. Ideally, I’d like to lose 10 kilos and 1 to 2 inches more from all over the body.
You have to learn to be patient with yourself, stay consistent and stay honest with your efforts, you will automatically succeed in your weight loss journey. And lastly, the most important thing is that you must never give up!”
