Make Your Makeup Remover at Home

422

I have been a devoted makeup user for the past 3 years now. Before that I would do the most minimal makeup that made me look slightly put together for fancy occasions and that was it. But now, with the increasing trends in makeup, even the most tomboy-ish girls use one or another makeup product that they may have seen one of the many beauty gurus on social media rave about. And don’t get me wrong, I absolutely love makeup. Who wouldn’t love having their skin shine like diamonds with the help of highlighters? But with increase in my use, I’ve noticed that its taking its toll on my skin. Having makeup layered on all day and then removing it with equally chemically damaging removers. And even after spending thousands of rupees on makeup removing products I always notice residual makeup on my face. Oh my poor innocent pores…

For this reason I’m going to share some Homemade Makeup removers that you can make in your own kitchen. They are not only pocket friendly, but are free of any harmful carcinogenic chemicals that harm the skin. They are also all organic and natural products that will help your skin get back its natural glow.

1. Extra Virgin Olive Oil and Almond Oil

Extra Virgin Olive Oil and Almond Oil

This is the easiest and hands down the most effective makeup remover you can make at home. Personally tried and tested, this nourishing mixture of oils can help remove an entire face full of the heaviest makeup with 3 drops maximum. Effective for both eye makeup and foundation, this can be stored anywhere from the kitchen to your bathroom. Just use on part olive oil with 2 parts almond oil and shake well. Massage the oils on your face and eyes to get the makeup off and wipe off with a damp towel or cloth.

2. Milk and Coconut Oil

Milk and Coconut Oil

Milk is undoubtedly great for the skin. Cleopatra used to bathe in milk and honey to keep her skin looking young and beautiful. Now we’re no Cleopatra, but we’re definitely queens, so why not take a page from her book and make a milk base makeup remover. To make this you’ll need milk and your choice of oil, most preferably coconut. And that’s pretty much it. Take a container and add as much milk as will last you 2 to 3 days, since milk is perishable. To this, add a teaspoon of your oil and shake well. Take cotton pads and either dip one at a time into the mixture to remove the makeup with or add a couple to the container so they absorb the liquid and can be used as ready to use makeup wipes.

3. Baby Shampoo and Water

Baby shampoos like are best known for their mildness and baby skin friendly ingredients. Another one of its uses is as a makeup remover/ cleanser. It can either be massaged directly on to the face and rinsed with water or mixed with a little water to dilute it and applied onto the face with the help of a wash cloth.

4. Coconut Oil

Coconut Oil

Coconut oil is amazing for the skin and can help get rid of any dirt and makeup without being too harsh. It also has a nourishing affect and will keep your skin moisturized and baby soft all day.
