Have you ever walked into the kitchen, looked around and thought of making something new as a child? Because seeing all those episodes of MasterChef Australia made you think, you too can one day stand next to Gary Mehigan, George Calombaris and Matt Preston?

Well, that was me in school. Trying new dishes, throwing in different ingredients into the saucepan and hoping something good comes out of it. Though that was not always the case, something that did turn out well was Seviyan Fudge and this recipe went on to become an Eid staple in my house

Be it Eidul Fitr or Eidul Azha, I stay up at night and make Seviyan Fudge because not just my immediate family, but even my relatives look forward to having it.

OK. To be fair it was never called the Seviyan Fudge, I am not that ‘burger’… In fact, for years it was called the Eid special but for the sake of this video and recipe we have named it Seviyan Fudge.

It’s easy to make, and no you don’t have to stay up at night to make it. That’s just me! And it’s crunchy and sweet, making this the perfect snack for tea time as well.

Seviyan Fudge Recipe

Ingredients:

4 tbsp. oil

2 packets. Seviyan (vermicelli)

1 tin Condensed milk

1/2 cup almonds, crushed

Method:

Crush seviyan into small pieces.

In a sauce pan, heat oil and add seviyan.

Roast seviyan till they turn slightly dark brown.

Turn the stove off and pour condensed milk on top of the seviyan.

Mix well and keep aside to cool long enough that the mixture is still pliable but not so hot that it burns or doesn’t hold its shape.

Spread it on a plate and sprinkle crushed almonds on the top.

Cut into circles and refrigerate for 30 mins. If you don’t have a cookie cutter then use bottle caps or simply use hands to make small circles.

Serve cold.

Variations:

  • Use chopped pistachios for added color and taste.
  • Add a touch of elaichi (cardamom) while roasting the seviyan.
  • Garnish with a mixture of shredded coconut and crushed nuts.

Eid brings a lot of things with it, yes, Eidi and good food but also pictures of our celebrities bringing their best fashion game forward.

No matter how busy we may be during the three-days of Eidul Fitr, we end up taking time out to Instagram and see who-wore-what, even while stuffing our faces with biryani and qorma. From Hania Aamir to Muzi Sufi and Ayesha Omer, everyone looked vibrant in their Eid looks, but only five made the cut for us this time around.

Here is a list of the ones who are worth a mention in HTV’s Eid favorites.

White is the New Black

One might think that no one can ever go wrong with an all-white ensemble, but that’s not true. It takes confidence and elegance to pull off an all-white number. And Neelum Munir and Saba Qamar have got us rooting for them.

Bling It On

Whoever said that there is never enough bling, was right. While on most days we prefer toning down our outfits, Eid gives us the excuse to go all out. Seems like Iqra Aziz did in fact, get that memo.

This Ali Xeeshan kurta shalwar paired with ethnic big earrings and simple make up does justice to Iqra’s girl-next-door persona.

Keeping it Simple

As they say sometimes less is more, and Ushna Shah’s blue cotton gharara paired with collared white kurta gives us uber-chic vibes. We are here for minimalistic style.

Red it Right

Who said red was just for shaadis? In fact, restricting red to just one occasion is doing injustice to its vibrancy. And not just us but our celebrities too can’t let that happen.

Maya Ali wore an all-red ensemble by Faiza Saqlain and she looks nothing less than a vision in red. Our very own Dream Girl.

Have you been waiting till the nth moment to shop for your Eid outfit? Making up excuses to not go shopping because you hate it? Well, fret not. We have got you sis.

In times of crisis we suggest you look for inspiration from our celebrities and copy their style. After all, as they say imitation is the best form of flattery and our style divas sure know what they are doing. They have after all spent their hard earned money on their style team.

So, hit the mall in the last days of Ramazan with a plan.

Go Bling

Hania Aamir may be the quirky girl next door, but boy does she know how to style herself.

Her recent Instagram post has brought Eid a little early but we are not complaining. The white and gold suit paired with a chain hand bracelet and ethnic earrings will make everyone at the Eid dawat root for you.

You can even skip doing a full make-up face for this one. Just wear red lipstick and hear everyone say, who that girl?

Gone are the days, when red was restricted to be worn by brides or newlyweds. And thank God for that, because why shouldn’t single ladies get a chance to look hot in red. Just like our girl Iqra Aziz.

Considering the color in itself is so bright, you don’t have to get any extra embellishments in your jora just like Iqra’s. Keep it simple with straightened hair and silver studs and you are good to go.

If you feel like adding a little more to this outfit, pair it with silver heels.

Breezy Pastels

Take a page out of Urwa Hocane’s style book and pick out a pastel color to wear this Eid. You can’t quite go wrong with wearing, as they say, a ‘thanda’ color in the summer.

Go for a minimalistic style by opting for a kurta that has simple embellishment on top and pair it with statement earrings and georgette dupatta.

We know sari is quite an unusual choice for Eid. But you got to admit that a simple cotton sari also makes one look elegant and classy. So, if you want to stand out in the crowd, wear a cotton sari with beach wavy hair like Sanam Saeed. And you might not even have to go to the mall for it, just raid your mom’s closet.

To add a glam effect to your outfit, wear a gold choker necklace and bangles, and twirl with a smile.
