Sindh Anti-Measles Vaccination Campaign Begins Today

Since the beginning of the year, measles has affected up to 133 children in the province, out of which 14 were unable to fight the disease and died. According to Dr. Sagheer Ahmed, Sindh Minister of Health, the total number of affected children is much less than the number recorded in the previous year. He made this announcement at a recent press conference at a location close to Jinnah Hospital. Iqbal Durrani (Provincial Secretary of Health), Dr. Mansoor Abbas (Special Secretary of Health), Dr. Srish Kumar, and several other prominent personnel were in attendance at the press conference. Dr. Sagheer Ahmed announced that the anti-measles vaccination campaign would be carried out from the 19th of May to the 31st of May, during which 1 crore 30 lakh children between the ages of 6 and 10 would be vaccinated. This vaccination campaign would encompass not only Karachi, but all of the 19 districts and 1120 union councils of Sindh. Temporary and permanent camps would be set up for the implementation of this plan, and the teams would administer door to door vaccinations if need be.
