Karachi: Polio Eradication Campaign Completed in Sensitive Union Councils
Leading the conference of the polio eradication campaign, Commissioner Karachi, Shoaib Ahmad Siddiqui, has informed that the children in nine sensitive union councils have successfully been given anti-polio vaccines. He said that a four day campaign started on 10th January 2015, where children under four months of age were given polio drops, whereas the older children were also injected with vaccines. He informed the media that by the third day around 94 percent of the target was already achieved, whereas in union council Baldia and Chishti Nagar West District, 100 percent of the target was achieved. Pakistan is one of three countries that is currently suffering from this dangerous disease. This polio eradication campaign is essential is removing the disease from the country altogether.
