Karachi: Anti-Polio Campaign Faces Consistent Obstacles
This 3-day anti-polio campaign targeted 11 high-risk union councils in the east and west districts on Karachi. The campaign estimated to reach out to more than 2 lakh, 43 thousand at-risk children in these areas. While a proportion of this target has been met, a sizeable number of children still need to be reached out to. Polio workers have had to face delays due to the lack of security personnel and security arrangements in these sensitive areas. Moreover, parents in Landhi Muzaffarabad colony have refused to allow workers to vaccinate their children. This is bound to have a long term impact on health of future generations.
