The inability to effectively curb polio and the looming threat of an international travel ban has compelled the Pakistani government to take emergency measures. The Federal Department of Health organized an urgent meeting which was attended by Health officials from all four provinces. Held by the Minister of Health, Saira Afzal Tarar, the meeting was used as a forum to decide how the government should respond to the situation at hand. It was decided that Polio Vaccinations would be made mandatory for all those Pakistanis who were traveling to other countries. For this purpose, Polio Vaccination counters will be established in the country’s airports.
