Doing the government’s work: PRCS Sindh chapter facilitating flood-hit locals
The Sindh Chapter of the Pakistan Red Crescent Society, with the help of national headquarters Islamabad, has positioned its teams in the districts affected by floods in Sindh.
Medical and assessment centers are established in Badin, Ghotki and Jamshoro which would cover Kashmore, Khairpur, Thatta and Sehwan areas as well.
A decision has been made to immediately send medical and relief goods – food and other items – to the affected areas. The PRDC has installed medical units along with health staff in the flood affected areas of Sindh for any medical assistance.
The decision of setting teams in these areas was taken by Mr Kanwar Waseem, the secretary chairman of Pakistan Red Crescent Society’s Sindh chapter, in a meeting at Hilal-e-Ahmer house, Karachi.
The PRCS has already started off the disaster management operation and established Branch Disaster Response Teams in the areas affected in Sindh. It has been assisting locals in evacuating the flooded areas – an emergency control room has been set-up in Karachi, at the provincial headquarters to track the flood.
The Sindh chapter, to counter any emergency situation, has directed the Red Crescent hospitals and health centers in Khairpur, Sukkur and Hyderabad to activate the emergency protocols.
