Dengue epidemic update, 80 more affected in Pakistan
Dengue claims more lives in the upper parts of Pakistan. New reports have claimed that 45 people in Mengora and more than 80 have already been affected by the epidemic in Swat. It has also been stated that more than 4,000 people are now affected by Dengue and more than 2,000 people are under treatment in Karachi and 6 in Hyderabad. Due to negligence the death toll has also increased in Karachi, with 12 who have already lost their lives due to this deadly epidemic.
Dengue virus is spread by female mosquitoes of the species Aedes aegypti. This mosquito also transmits yellow fever, chikungunya, and Zika infection. Dengue is prevalent throughout the tropical areas, with local variations. The risk of dengue virus increases due to rainfall, unplanned urbanization, and temperature.
