Citizens Protest as Load shedding Becomes Progressively Worse
The residents of S.I.T.E area, Lyari, and Orangi Town took to the streets to protest against the unending saga of load shedding. Unannounced load shedding often continues for several hours at a stretch, which, coupled with the shortage of water, has caused frustration levels to sky rocket. At S.I.T.E Metroville, Islamabad Chowk in Orangi Town, and Kalakot Lyari, dozens of men, women and children set fire to various objects (such as tires) and chanted slogans against the government. The citizens were aggravated by the lack of electricity especially at night, which made going to school and work the next day almost impossible. Traffic was considerably hampered during the protests.
