Aaqib Javed Resigns from UAE Coaching Role
Former Pakistan bowler Aaqib Javed has resigned from the job of head coach of United Arab Emirates cricket team. The speedster now looks to be the most eligible candidate for the post of Director Cricket Operations of Pakistan Super League team, the Lahore Qalandars.
The former fast bowler signed a three year contract with the UAE Cricket Team in 2012, which proved to be beneficial for the Arab side. In his tenure, UAE gained access to the One Day International and Twenty20 format. They even qualified for the Cricket World Cup 2015.
Talking to the media, Aaqib Javed said that: “I have decided to resign from the coaching duties and wish to return back to Pakistan.”
“I think that I have done a good job with the team and I don’t see anything more to do for this side”, he added.
The former Pakistan assistant coach is now looking for a much greater challenge. He said: “I now look for bigger challenges as I have done everything.”
Lahore Qalandars Executive Atif Rana has approached Aaqib Javed for his services as he looks to strengthen the side for the next edition of the Pakistan Super League.
