Why Piku should be on your watch-list

While on vacations, I have watched more movies than I could even imagine. Since I am not so picky when it comes to genres, any catchy story or actor of my interest is enough for me to watch a film. However, Bollywood movies are my favorite!

This is kind of like my guilty pleasure.

Even though I know that most Bollywood movies have very subpar storylines these days, the fan in me still makes me want to watch every movie made by this industry at least once, in the hopes that I might come across a good movie one of these days.

So, after being tormented with a long streak of ridiculously bad movies, I have finally come across a film which is based on some substance and story. And this rescue took place in the form of Deepika Padukone – my most favorite actress of this age. This woman never fails to amuse me and her movie Piku has lived up to that reputation.

Now, I do not do film reviews but this one actually deserves it. Piku is a story based on the medical illness of constipation. And for many, this was a downer. Many people opted not to watch the film, thinking that it would have dirty references to human excretion. But I am happy to say that this was not the case; after watching this movie, I was left with nothing else but amazement – and happiness, for seeing a very good movie after a very long time.  This movie is a beautiful flick and my faith in Bollywood was restored after watching it.

It stars the great Amitabh Bachan as the father of Deepika Padukone’s character, and the outstanding Irfan Khan.

The reason why I am so smitten with this movie is because of the message it portrays. Our generation is so caught up with our own lives that we have forgotten the importance of our creators – our parents. This movie may not have a strong story but it is delivered with such strong dialogues and expressions by all three actors that it makes for a very powerful watch. The film is packed with an ongoing journey which makes you relate to every character. To top all this, the songs and the lyrics are so soulful that they just touch perfection in every way.

But for me, Deepika was the one who stole the show. With her divine goddess-looks, topped with brilliant acting skills, she took the screen by storm. Deepika has been winning awards for a couple of years now, giving blockbusters after blockbusters and I am sure this year will not be any different. Piku will make sure that she bags some awards year too.

I would suggest everyone to watch Piku at least once; this movie has touched my heart in the most unpredictable way and I’m sure it will touch yours too.
