Iman Ali, one of the first true superstars in Pakistan, got married last night. As the whole of Pakistan already knows by now. So why talk about it repeatedly? Because following the slew of extravagant multi-event, multi-location weddings, it is so refreshing to see Iman Ali having a 3-in-one event, consisting of her Nikkah, Shaadi and Mehndi.

If you have done your fair share of ‘research’ on Iman Ali’s wedding festivities, you will not have found much more than posts from friends and family. All these said posts involve practices that we, non-celebrity people, partake in at any wedding: dance practices, fun dinners, and most importantly, lots of close friends and family.

We have so far been privy to three events of the Babar Bhatti and Iman Ali wedding:
Dholki
Iman Ali wore a simple yet flattering ensemble in a beautiful blue on her dholki. No bells and whistles; except the celeb gentry, of course.

Mayoun
From what we gather, Iman’s mayoun was an intimate event held at home. She had fun, danced with her friends and wore traditional yellow clothes.
Shendi
Choosing to stray from the ‘conventional’ path of having a separate mehndi, nikkah and shaadi, Babar Bhatti and Iman Ali chose to combine all three. Iman wore a stunning yellow lehnga choli that was the direct opposite to currently trending over-the-top styles.
Valima reception: since this has not yet taken place, we cannot comment. But word is, that this too will be a simple, intimate affair.
We can’t help but applaud this path less wandered, especially when it comes to celebrity weddings. Of course, you should celebrate any way you like- it is your special day after all. However, the trickle down impact of celebrity weddings may be greater than you think. The trend-setters can influence a change in the wedding culture of over-spending and sometimes finding yourself in a pool of debt and dowry that may not be worth it.
