Catching a whiff of your own body odor can never be pleasant – and it is even less pleasing when you are not the only one who smells the scent. If you have been in situations like this more times than you would like, luckily for you, there are multiple ways to get around them. The following are a list of natural ways of toning down the unwanted smell.

1. The First Has to Do with Vinegar

Splash some of the liquid on your underarms after you take a shower, and the lower pH in the solution will not allow bacteria to thrive. This will greatly reduce any noxious smell being omitted, as it is the bacteria that cause the stink. However, you must be careful not to apply the acidic vinegar to broken skin, as it will sting intensely. This includes freshly shaved or waxed underarms.

2. The Next Method is Simple – Shave or Wax Underarms

The hair will enhance odor as it traps bacteria, and reduces the rate of sweat evaporation which further increases the number of foul-smelling bacteria gathering in your armpits. The porous nature of the hair itself also allows the odor to stay for longer. The simple solution is to consistently remove the underarm hair.

3. Something for the Smelly Feet

Smelly underarms are not the only form of body odor – stinky feet are also a part of the problem. One trick is to make sure you do not wear the same pair of shoes and socks for many days at a time. By changing the shoes you wear every few days, the bacteria in each pair will die out as they get aired and lose their source of heat. Taking these steps will no doubt reduce the degree and frequency of body odor.

4. Use Lemon Juice

Another technique, similar to the one involving vinegar, is to rub lemon juice under your arms. Simply cut a lemon in half and rub one half on the skin of your armpit. Allow the acid to dry on its own, then take a shower or wash it off. This kills the bacteria in the same way that vinegar does. If you have sensitive skin, you can dilute the juice before applying it to lessen the sting. Again, do not rub the juice on broken skin (such as freshly shaved or waxed skin).

5. Turnips (Urdu: Shuljum)

Turnips are also a useful and Natural remedies to get rid of body odor. Cut the turnip in to three or four pieces, then either blend it in a liquidizer or mash it with a mortar and pestle. Place the paste in a sieve and squeeze out the juice in to a container (you can use a spoon to push out the fluid). Apply this juice to your armpit and allow it to dry on its own, then rinse your skin with lukewarm water. The juice has antibacterial properties, so it should kill the bacteria that produce an odor. This method should stop any smell from being produced for up to ten hours.

Choose any of the above techniques to reduce your body odor and the number of embarrassing experiences you have to go through. You can pick the one that is the most convenient for you or alternate between different tactics, the results should all be similar, as well as a relief!
