Gameweek 27 just passed by in the Barclays Premier League. 8 matches took place on this weekend.

Chelsea Football Club and Tottenham Hotspurs Football Club didn’t feature in this game week as they fought out for the prestigious Capital One Cup. Chelsea FC eventually came out as winners of the final with captain John Terry and Diego Costa scoring on the day. Final score at Wembley was 2-0.

Coming back to the Premier League, Manchester United faced Sunderland at Old Trafford. Arsenal faced Everton. West Ham United were up against Crystal Palace. Swansea City went to Turf Moor to face Burnley. Relegation threatened Aston Villa went to Newcastle United. Stoke City faced Hull City. West Bromwich Albion had a match against in form Southampton FC.

Arguably the match of the weekend was between Liverpool Football Club and second in the league, Manchester City.

Crystal Palace triumph: Crystal Palace Football Club ran out 1-3 winners at Boleyn Ground against West Ham United. Glen Murray had a mixed day. Scored a brace and was sent off. Scott Dan also scored. Enner Valencia bagged a single goal for the Londoners.

Swansea FC record win: Trippier scored for Swansea FC as they earned a valuable win against Burnley at Turf Moor.

Man Utd succesful at home: Manchester United came out 2-0 winners at Old Trafford. Ander Herrera and Daley Blind anchored the midfield. Wayne Rooney proved instrumental yet again. He scored a brace in the game ending his eight game drought in the league. The England striker is now Manchester United’s leading goal scorer in the league with 11 goals. Currently, the Red Devils are fourth in the league table. United have now 12 wins of their 15 games at Old Trafford scoring 35 goals.

Newcastle win at home: Pappis Demba Cisse scored to earn his side a victory against relegation threatened side Aston Villa. Cisse also was the man of the match. Final score 1-0.

Stoke City successful: Peter Crouch scored a header in the second half to beat Steve Bruce’s Hull City. The ex England striker now has the highest number of headed goals in the Premier League surpassing Alan Shearer. Final score was 1-0 at the Britianna Stadium.

West Brom shock Saints: England international Saido Berahino only required two minutes to score against Southampton FC. This loss dropped Ronald Koeman’s out of the top four positions in the league.

Anfield roars: Liverpool FC recorded a 2-1 victory over second placed Manchester City. Captain Jordan Henderson scored a scintillating goal from outisde the box to give his side the lead. Edin Dzeko equalized for the Citizens. Philippe Coutinho, the Brazilian prodigy yet again broke Manchester City’s hearts by scoring yet again. His goal proved to be the deciding factor  between the sides.

Arsenal win at the Emirates: Olivier Giroud and Thomas Rosicky helped Arsenal secure their seventh consecutive victory in the league. 2-0 was the final score at the Emirates Stadium. Arsenal jump up into third spot on the Barclays Premier League table with this victory.

At the end of Gameweek 27, Chelsea lead the Premier League table standings with 60 points. Manchester City despite losing to the Merseysiders, still maintain the runner-up spot. Arsenal move into third with 51 points. Manchester United, complete the slots for the UEFA Champions League, with 50 points.

Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspurs still are in the race for the top four spots in the league standings.
