Owing to our desi culture and traditions, we often tend to limit certain colors to certain occasions. Wearing red only at your wedding (please don’t be the one wearing red at someone else’s wedding), green at a mehndi event or green and white on 14th August because hello, Independence Day.
And if we dare to wear these colors outside these so-called designated events, we are reminded by more than one person that they thought we were going to a function or celebrating our azaadi, only God knows what one means by that.
Among many such colors, one of these is yellow. The color is vibrant and bright but is often worn at a mayun. Most people shy away from wearing it outside the said function as they are afraid they might be called out for it but seems like that is changing. And we can’t be more glad.
Not only are women on the streets in the country seen wearing yellow but our female celebrities too are reclaiming the color. Wearing it on holidays, red carpet events, Eid or casual outings with friends, blessing us with one Instagram post at a time.
