Psychiatric Conditions As Early Manifestations of Medical Disease
In the current study of P&P, researchers have analyzed depression and anxiety as early manifestations of medical diseases.
Alteration in mood, anxiety and irritability could be the early symptoms of medical illness. The results of this study showed that depression – as compared to anxiety, irritability and mania – is the most common affective early onset of medical disorders and is consistently reported in Cushing’s syndrome, hypothyroidism, hyperparathyroidism, pancreatic and lung cancer, myocardial infarction, Wilson’s disease, and AIDS.
Physicians should be alerted that psychiatric cases may antedate the appearance of a medical disorder.
