12 Fantastic Uses of Toothpaste
Toothpaste, we know what it is for – it’s used to make our teeth lovely, clean and white, but you probably didn’t know there is a lot more to it. It can actually be used for SO many different things and I bet you had no idea, well, not until now.
We were amazed to learn that, far from simply helping keep our pearly whites shiny, toothpaste is also an irreplaceable product which can be used for various tasks around the home. Some of these ideas might seem a little strange, but they work — try them yourselves!
1. Prevent Bathroom Mirrors From Fogging
You can’t see your face clearly in that fogged-up bathroom mirror. Coat the mirror with non-gel toothpaste and wipe it off before you get in the shower. When you get out, the mirror won’t be fogged.
2. Remove Watermarks From Furniture
To get rid of those indicative watermark rings left by sweating beverages, gently rub some non-gel toothpaste on the wood with a soft cloth. Then wipe it off with a wet cloth and let it dry before applying furniture polish.
3. Deodorize Baby Bottles
Toothpaste will without a doubt remove the sour-milk smell baby bottles pick up, in a moment. Just put some of it on the baby bottle, brush and scrub away. Be sure to rinse thoroughly.
4. Clean Your Sneakers
Want to clean and whiten the rubber part of your sneakers? Get out the non-gel paste and an old toothbrush. After scrubbing, clean off it with a wet cloth.
5. Clean the Bathroom Sink
From the tube sitting right there, just squirt some in, scrub with a sponge, and rinse it out. Bonus: The toothpaste will kill any odors coming from the drain trap.
6. Remove Ink and Lipstick Stains on Fabric
A pen was accidentally opened up in the pocket of your shirt. This toothpaste trick is not guaranteed to succeed depending on the ink and the fabric but it’s worth a shot before neglect it away. Simply spread some toothpaste on the spotted area and rub the fabric like crazy and rinse it with warm water. Do these all over again until you remove all the ink traces from your shirt! The same process goes with the lipstick or grass stains.
7. Remove Crayon from Walls
Did kids get creative on your wall with crayons? Roll up your sleeves and grab a tube of non-gel toothpaste and a scrub brush. Squirt some of it on the wall and start scrubbing. It will rub away the crayon every time. Rinse the wall with water.
8. Clean Your Iron
Toothpaste contains mild-harsh cleaning property which is the ticket in pulling the stain and dirt off the bottom plate of your clothes iron. Let the iron cool down and spread a bit of toothpaste in the bottom plate and use a rag or mild cloth to scrub the grime off before rinsing with clean water. Let it air dry.
9. Shine Bathroom And Kitchen Taps
They make commercial cleaners with a very fine rough designed to shine up chromium, but if you don’t have any handy, the fine non-gel toothpaste works just as well. Just mark on the toothpaste and polish with a soft, dry cloth.
10. Polish a Diamond Ring
Put a little toothpaste on an old toothbrush and use it to make your diamond ring sparkle. Clean off the rest with a wet cloth.
11. Cleaning Your Car’s Headlight
Your car’s headlights can get very dirty and hard to see after a while. You can add a bit of toothpaste to a bowl filled with warm water and use a cushion pad to clean the dirt and dust away. The toothpaste will help to brighten up the glass from the headlights so you can see much better when driving.
12. Relax Minor Burns
Apply some toothpaste to ease burns and bites. Spot lightly on the affected area and repeat the process if needed. It gives a quick relief that soothe like magic to take the sting and burn at bay particularly if it is mint-flavored.
