Curry leaf, also known as ‘karipatta’ in Urdu, is one of the most beneficial herbs that is most commonly used as an ingredient in dishes to add aroma and flavor. It also has myriad of health benefits as well. Beside from providing us flavor, it is also enriched with nutrients essential for our body such as carbohydrates, fiber, calcium, phosphorus, iron and vitamins.

Protects From Anemia

Curry leaf is a good source of iron and folic acid. Iron is absorbed in the body by folic acid, and transports oxygen in different parts of body and keeps the hemoglobin from decreasing and causing anemia.

Decreases Cholesterol

Curry leaves have antioxidants that help prevent oxidation of cholesterol. This further prevents LDL cholesterol (bad cholesterol) and helps increase HDL cholesterol (good cholesterol). Curry leaf is also beneficial for heart and  helps prevent many heart problems.

Helps Prevent Acne

Curry leaves do an amazing job of keeping your skin healthy. The anti-bacteria, anti-fungal and antioxidant properties deal with skin infections. This is a very helpful and easy remedy for treatment of skin at home by making a paste with fresh curry leaves and turmeric and applying it on the acne.

Strengthens Hair

Hair complications is another common problem for which many remedies have been proposed but a very significant remedy is to use curry leaf to treat hair damage. To use curry leaf on your scalp, you will have to take juice of curry leaf and add 100ml of coconut oil to it. Heat it until the oil turns blackish and then use it for your hair.

Protects Liver

Liver is the largest gland of the body which secretes juices for your body. But harmful toxins can be found in liver. Curry leaf has anti oxidative properties that protect the liver from antioxidants. This can be done if you take a spoon of ghee and heat it up. After it is heated, add curry leaf juice to it. Heat the mixture a bit more but not too much. Add a bit of sugar as well and drink the prepared potent.

Curry Leaves for Diabetes

Diabetes is a problem for people with high sugar levels. Curry leaves are very helpful in this case as they can also be used to lower sugar levels in blood. Patients with diabetes can now cure their problem by using curry leaf in their diet.

Curry leaves can be used when anyone is ill for some reason. Curry leaf turns out to be very useful for curing problems related to digestive disorders. The herb improves digestive functions as well. Constipation is very painful but a quick fix to the problem is to dry curry leaf for a few days. Take the dried curry leaf in table spoon and mix it with honey. Use this home medicine two to three times a day.

Bad eye sight can be made better or even can be healed perfectly. Pure curry juice extracted from curry leaf tree can be dropped in the patient’s eye. This can specially work to arrest cataract from eye.
