Some of us always wake up to puffy eyes and never understand why. Well, puffy eyes can be a result of a hectic and stressful lifestyle or a bad diet too. But not to worry, you can make these simple changes to de-puff your eyes.
Stay Hydrated
Dehydration is one of the root causes of puffy eyes. So, start drinking 7 to 8 glasses of water every day, if it helps set a reminder on your phone.
Keep It Cool
Applying a cold compress for 10 minutes reduces the puffiness as it drains the excess fluid from your eyes. You can also keep your under-eye creams or serums in the fridge. Added benefits; most of these creams and serum have green tea extract, cucumber, or arnica which can be really helpful.
Reduce Salt Intake
Excessive salt results in fluid retention in the body. Reduce salt intake by eating more whole foods instead of packed foods that are high in sodium. Also, increase potassium intake in your diet, this will help reduce the fluid buildup.
Use Pillow
Yes, you read that right, sleeping on a thick pillow plays an important part in de-puffing the eyes. Elevating your head while sleeping avoids fluids from collecting around your eye that can cause puffiness.
Follow a Proper Selfcare Routine
- Make sure to sleep for 7-9 hours daily.
- Don’t drink coffee 6 hours before going to bed.
- There must be a minimum of 3 hours gap between dinner and bedtime.
- Detach yourself from all electronics 1-2 hours before you sleep.
