We are all forced to stay up all night every now and then. You always need snacks or something to munch on to keep it exciting. It is more like seeking comfort in food. Coffee usually works but is not healthy because of caffeine. Fried food can give you acidity and also makes you fat. Fruits don’t seem to attract us very much at least not in crisis. However you are supposed to make healthy choices. Make your food exciting and worth staying up for.

Listed below are a few recipes that you can try at home.

Banana and peanut butter

Peanut butter is healthy and so are bananas. Slice the bananas into half and spread peanut butter all over it. You can also sprinkle it with nuts. Eat it frozen or on room temperature. Either way it is healthy and yummy.

Fruits and nuts

When lazy, fruits and nuts are an easy way out. Just mix grapes, strawberry, apple chunks and nuts and surprise yourself with each pick and much on this healthy snack bowl late night when hunger pangs kick in. The fruits are low in calories and sodium thus, keep your heart healthy. They contain lots of vitamins and also take care of your skin and other organs. Nuts contain calcium that take care of your bones and also contain other nutrients like proteins and minerals, which are crucial for our body functions. So, this snack is so far your best healthy option.

Yogurt with fruits and nuts

Take a small bowl of yogurt, mix nuts and fruits that you like the most. It not only looks pretty but also satisfies your appetite.

Bread and butter

Sounds like a homeless person’s diet? Well, it can end up really yummy though. Toast whole-grain bread and coat it with nut butter. You can also sprinkle chocolate chips or almonds on top and make it look worthy of eating as a midnight snack. It gives you energy and contains high fiber content, which is healthy.

Pistachios

Salt can kill our craving. Add a pinch of salt to a small bowl of pistachios and enjoy. Pistachios help lose weight and keep your heart healthy. Pistachios also maintain your blood pressure. They won’t ruin your sleep cycle even if you sleep late so they are perfect for snacking late night.

Cottage cheese

Boil vegetables such as, carrots, peas, capsicum and sweet potatoes. Add some salt and pepper or any spice of your choice. Mix in a bit of cottage cheese and you are good to go. Cottage cheese does not make you fat. This will kill your craving for a cheesy pizza.

Barley, walnuts and maple syrup

Mix ¾ cup of barley in half a cup of non-fat milk. Add chopped up walnuts and half a teaspoon of maple syrup to it. Amazing flavor and a healthy snack is ready for you to eat.

French toast and strawberries

Whisk together one egg and 2 tablespoons of non-fat milk.  Dip a slice of brown bread in the mixture and let it soak. Fry the bread evenly from both sides in a non-stick pan or a normal pan with butter smeared in it. Cook until the slices are light brown. Add honey and sliced strawberries on the toast, or any other fruit available.
