Iftari is all about traditional food and snacks. You wait all year long to wait for Iftar parties and what not. You can make good food at home on your own and make it more exciting. Following are some best iftar foods recipes that you can serve at iftar time.

1. Dates

You can never replace dates with any other food item. They give glucose that you have missed out on the entire day and boost your metabolism. Start your iftar with dates. You can get different types of dates in the market. If you want to make it more exciting just in case your guests are coming over then replace the seed with almond or cream.

2. Fruit Juices

Try to avoid carbonated and sugary drinks. You can make watermelon juice, mango juice or peach juice for iftar and fuel yourself with their nutritional benefits.

3. Fruit Chaat

A nice cold mixture of flavors with natural sugar is what you crave for all day long. Avoid adding sugar to your fruit chat. You can eat it as it is or spice it up with lemon juice and a bit of chaat masala. It’s better to eat fruit chat rather than have fruit juices, because this way you will also be eating lots of fiber.

4. Baked Samosas

Make samosas at home with different fillings. Experiment with the flavors to find out the likes and dislikes of the people around you. Avoid fried items during Ramadan, because they make you thirsty. Just brush your samosas with a bit of olive oil and bake them till they turn out to be perfectly crispy.

5. Jalebi

Jalebi is so not healthy, but one of the best desserts ever. It is okay to treat yourself with jalebi after a long day of fasting. This crispy and sweet dessert simply melts in your mouth and tastes even better after the entire day of fasting.

6. Chana Chaat

Chana chaat is not only good to your taste buds, but also very healthy due to high content of protein and minerals. It is filling and has the spices that can serve your craving. You can add in imli ki chutney and yogurt to it to make it tastier.

7. Dahi Phulki

Homemade yogurt made from fresh milk is an amazing and healthy food especially in Ramadan. Apart from all the major health benefits that everyone knows about, it keeps you from getting dehydrated and thirsty. You can make phulkian at home and let them soak the yogurt. Add in chat masala before serving it to your family or guests.

8. Periperi Bites

This is more of a fancy dish that you save for your guests. It is basically green chili filled with cheese and chicken. Imagine all the cheese dripping out of the chili right after your first bite. It really is good when served hot. However, it can also be baked rather than deep frying it in oil. So, if you are a health conscious person, go for baking.

9. Onion Rings

Making onion rings are a little tricky and require a good amount of time. But they turn out well once you get the hang of it. These are one bite snacks and easily eaten without any mess. Onion rings are not very heavy and won’t keep your bloated or anything of that sort unlike pakoras and samosas.

10. Potato Cheese Balls

These tiny balls of heaven in between are amazing for iftar snacks. The cheese oozing out as soon as you take one bite makes it even better. It is however, a very heavy food item and should not be served daily, because nobody wants to turn into a potato just before Eid. Make sure that you serve it hot while it is crispy and soft from inside.
