Tobacco Exposure in Utero and Diabetes

According to research, tobacco exposure to the children in the mother’s womb is more likely to cause Utero and Diabetes in adults.

The research showed that females whose mothers smoked in pregnancy had two to three times more chance of being diabetic when adult. The trend was seen in fathers as well, but more research is needed to conclude. Earlier studies have focused on ‘Smoking and Obesity’ and ‘Smoking and Birth-Problems’. Lead Author, Michele La Merrill explained that unwanted exposure of anything could contribute to health issues and parent’s smoking is a risk independent of obesity and birth weight.
