It is expected that in the coming few days, temperatures in Larkana will skyrocket to 42 degrees. Sweltering heat coupled with long bouts of load-shedding has led to a rise in the incidence of gastroenteritis.
The government’s claims to reduce load-shedding in the month of Ramadan and to guarantee electricity at Sehri and Iftaari have not been put into action. Residents have to put up with 10-14 hour stretches of load-shedding, forcing them to have iftaari in parks and open spaces instead of at home or at the mosque.
