A recent outbreak of dengue has been reported in Swat district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province in Pakistan. As of 25th September 2013, more than 6,000 people have been a victim of this disease. In addition, the disease has taken lives of more than 20 deaths. The local authorities have joined efforts with WHO to make sure the epidemic is being controlled. With the respect of this event, WHO has advised against any travel or trade to the effected parts of Swat.
What is Dengue
Dengue is a tropical disease. The carriers of the disease are mosquitoes, and that too females ones. The symptoms of the disease include headache, high fever, vomiting, skin rash, and muscle and joint pain.
