With its success in Ittehad Town, the Karachi Anti-Polio Vaccination Campaign reached its sixth stage of completion. During the course of the campaign, the team visited 24 highly sensitive localities to administer vaccinations for Polio and other debilitating diseases. According to Dr. Shafiq, the presiding Town Health Officer of Orangi Town, media personnel from key television channels refrained from covering the event given the relatively unstable nature of the area.

He continued, was the only exception to this general trend. In lieu of overriding security concerns, several steps were taken to prevent the occurrence of any disruptive events during the campaign. The government banned the use of motorcycles from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm in the localities being covered by the Anti-Polio vaccination team, and arrangements had been made for the provision of additional security.

The union councils of Gaddap, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Baldia Town, Orangi Town, S.IT.E., Bin Qasim, Landhi, Saddar, and Gulberg were covered in the campaign proceedings carried out on Sunday. In conversation with Health TV’s representatives, members of the vaccination team stated that they were satisfied with the security arrangements made by the regulatory authorities.

The focal personality at this momentous event was the Town Health Officer of Baldia Town, Shamim, who engaged in an exclusive dialogue with Health TV’s representatives. She expressed her appreciation for the local residents of union councils 1 to 4, whose cooperation and support emerged as a crucial ingredient for the completion of the campaign.
