Through this article, we will be talking about the things which you shouldn’t put down your drain in the near future. It will not only help you avoid unwanted clogging problems, hence no calling of the plumbers and yes, of course, you will also save your expenses.
1. Eggshells
Eggshells account for a huge amount of granular waste all over the world. People usually dispose of the shells down the drain just for the sake of easy access to cleaning. But, little do they know that the eggshells themselves can be recycled for a better purpose? So, try not to dispose of those eggshells through the drain from now on and do something productive for the society and for this world.
2. Coffee or Tea Grounds
Another very commonly practiced activity is disposing the coffee grounds down the kitchen drain. The coffee or tea grounds tend to block the space for proper flow of water hence leading to problems like coagulated pipes, bad odor, water pooling in the sink etc. For the disposal, take out the ground in a sieve and then transport that to a rubbish bin. Trust me; it will save you a lot of hassle.
3. Cooking Oil
The disposal of cooking oil down the kitchen sink is one of the most common activities at home when it comes to getting rid of the oil. When the oil is disposed, it not only leads to blockage, but with the combination of other waste products it leads sewerage overflows. The oil used can be sieved to remove the unwanted entities and can be used for future cooking.
4. Motor Oil
Do not dispose used motor oil down the drain. It will lead to timely solace, but it is not a proper solution. The used or unwanted motor oil should ideally be stored in separate containers rather than being spilled down the kitchen drain.
5. Cleaning Solutions
Since the cleaning solutions comprise of different kinds of chemical compositions including phosphates, antibacterial agents etc. the drainage of these products through drains is not the ideal solution. It is not because these compounds damage the water’s ecosystem, hence leading to different problems as a whole.
6. Flour
Do not dispose of the flour (be it regular or corn) through the drain. We are saying that, because the flour itself when absorbs moisture it starts to set and conform to a hard texture, hence leading to blockage of the pipes. Always dispose of garbage in a separate garbage disposal unit or rubbish bins.
7. Animal Feces
Make sure that you dispose of your pet’s feces in proper garbage disposal areas. Since feces are a waste product itself, and they contain harmful chemicals, so, in order to protect nature from such bacterial threats, the waste should be laid to rest in a proper and sophisticated manner.
8. Tissue Paper
You should not be throwing the tissue papers down the drain thinking that they will eventually pass through the pipes and into the sea. Well that is not the case always. Since the material of the wipes is hard as compared to a tissue paper, it will be hard for the water to disintegrate the composition of the wipe itself. So, as a result of that clogging takes place therefore, no proper drainage.
