Strategy to control shifting of NICVD’s patients to private hospitals devised

The Governing Body of National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD) has devised a strategy to stop the shifting of its patients with heart diseases to best private hospital.

He said that the strategy will be implemented in a couple of months.
The NICVD’s executive director Prof Dr Nadeem Qamar told media persons that the hospital’s governing body has devised a new strategy to help control shifting of its patients to private healthcare facilities.  Such a strategy, he added, has been devised following receiving several complaints from visiting patients that some doctors were involved in referring the NICVD patients with cardiovascular diseases to private hospitals.

He said administration has decided to sign an agreement with all doctors of hospital whereby they will be bound to perform their duties at the institution and they won’t be allowed to do their private practice. He said these doctors will cater to the needs of patients in the NICVD in evening hours on the pattern of Sindh Institute of Urology and Transplantation. He said that the NICVD administration will pay extra salary to these doctors in order to control the private practices.
