Contrary to most articles that we post about weight loss, in this article we will help those who are looking for weight gain instead.
If you are one of those who think they are underweight or you think that you would look better if you were a bit bulkier, here is what you can do to reach your goals. This article is also useful for grooms and brides-to-be who want to look fuller and bulkier on their big day.
DRINK LOTS OF WATER
An adult human body is made up of 60 percent water. Which means the most bulk of the body is water mass. To look bulky, simply increasing water intake as it can result in water retention in the body, giving you a bulky look. Increase salt intake along with water and you will definitely look puffy in a day or two.
USE CREATINE
Creatine is a compound that provides muscles with energy. While it is very useful as a pre workout drink, it can be used to look a bit bulky. This is because as creatine is pulled inside the muscles; it carries water along with it due to the difference in oncotic pressure it creates. This results in huge amount of water retention within the muscles giving you a bulky look.
EAT THE RIGHT KIND OF FOOD
If you are looking to bulk, energy-dense foods are your best choice. Energy dense foods are those foods that provide most calories per weight of the food. These foods will provide with a lot of calories for a small quantity, due to which their consumption becomes easy and you can eat large quantities without getting full. Examples of energy dense food include peanut butter, eggs, rice, nuts, chocolate and cheese.
SLACK AND SNACK
This is a very obvious and fun way to increase your weight. All you have to do is sit back and relax, save the calories you consume throughout the day and add a few more calories by snacking in between the meals. Eat a little throughout the day and most of the extra calories will be stored in the body, making you gain weight.
TRY SUPPLEMENTS
If you need to add extra calories to your diet, you can always go for supplements such as whey protein or mass gainers. Whey protein can help gain muscle mass if you are working out. Muscle is always heavier than fats and makes you look good too. Mass gainers are actually made to help people in need to gain weight. I would not recommend mass gainer as meal replacement. You can however use it as a supplement to get some extra calories in your tummy. Mass gainers are packed with calories per scoop, and taking them twice or thrice in a day is easy. Just add a scoop in your morning juice/cereal or a scoop in your post-dinner dessert and you just gained a lot of extra calories without stuffing your mouth with food.
WORKOUT
Working out is associated with weight loss. But train for muscle building and you will lose fats and gain muscles. This option sounds difficult, sure you will have to work hard, but this is the healthiest option of all. Working out does not only makes you look bulky, it will makeguys lookmuscular and girls look toned up. Combine it with whey protein, and you will get bigger in no time. You gain strength, your body looks better naked and you get healthy. What else can you ask for?
You should remember that most options mentioned above will make you gain bad weight or in other words, it will make you fat, or give you mere appearance of being bulky. All the extra calories will be converted into fats and stored (unless you workout to build muscles). Should you choose to workout, which I highly recommend you to, there are plenty of articles here on our website which will help you out.
If you are severely underweight and find it very difficult to gain weight despite increasing your diet, I would advise you to consult a doctor as this could be a sign of hyperthyroidism. Hyperthyroidism is a condition in which thyroid hormone in the blood increases which increases your metabolism, burning most of the calories that you consume. A simple blood test will diagnose it and mostly a few medications can bring it back to normal.
