We are all familiar with the benefits of vitamins. They need to be consumed in appropriate doses to help maintain the immune system, strengthen bones, reduce the risks of cardiovascular diseases and high cholesterol levels, etc. When we have a high-quality diet, whether it’s by cooking our own food or using a healthy meal delivery service, it’s usually possible to get enough vitamins just through the meals that we eat. If you don’t have adequate time or energy, however, you can also turn to a vitamin supplement, but the bottom line is that vitamins are very important for our health and well-being

Here, we will talk about the benefits that vitamins bring to our skin.

Paying attention to the health of the skin is important. There are numerous ways to keep our skin healthy, such as by getting enough sleep, exercising on a regular basis, drinking water, etc. It is also important to wear sunscreen which helps in protecting the skin from dangerous levels of ultraviolet sun rays.

Even though it’s not a vitamin, another important thing that people use to beautify their skin is activated charcoal, as it is also quite effective in getting rid of the toxins. It is available in pharmacies and stores that sell healthy foods, and can even be made at home. It is simply applied as a face mask.

But let’s get back to vitamins. One of the most important factors in maintaining healthy skin is consuming the proper vitamins. Many vitamins and antioxidants can help in accomplishing this goal, and the most effective ones are vitamins: A, C, E, D, K, B3, B5, Choline, and folic acid.

Vitamin A

It is present in foods such as carrots, spinach, sweet potatoes, mangoes, beef, eggs, and dairy products. This vitamin is considered most important for skin health, and although there are positive effects of these vitamins, consuming more than needed can cause skin irritation.

Vitamin C

It is considered important for skin care, as well as for overall health in general. It can be found in citrus, some peppers, broccoli, tomatoes, and many other greens. Vitamin C produces collagen which helps in keeping the skin firm.

Vitamin E

It is the one that makes the skin beautiful. This is an oil-soluble Sweet and Sour Chicken Saladand protects the skin from damage. It can also aid in getting rid of skin diseases, such as acne. It can be found in many foods such as nuts, seeds, vegetable oils, and of course in fruits and vegetables.

Vitamin D

Also known as the ‘sunshine’ vitamin, it is primarily acquired from the sun. Breakfast cereals, milk, mushrooms, fish, and eggs are main sources of this vitamin, which is the biggest “fighter” of skin infections.

Vitamin K

It is the vitamin which helps in healing wounds and bruises since it helps in the coagulation of blood after an injury. It also helps in getting rid of stretch marks, scars, dark circles, etc. Cabbage, liver, kale, and milk are the foods which contain this vitamin the most.

Vitamin B5

It is responsible for skin hydration. It also goes by the name of Pantothenic acid and panthenol. The main characteristic of this vitamin is that it prevents loss of water and can be found in different kinds of foods, such as grains, avocado, and chicken.

Choline

It can be found in eggs, peanuts, and milk, and is also produced in our bodies. It helps in regular functioning of the brain, and also has a role in the membranes of the skin cells.

Folic acid

It is an essential vitamin that pregnant women should consume, as it is important in creating new cells. Folic acid has another important role – it helps in skin health and appearance. It can be found in spinach, nuts, beans, bread, pasta, and cereals which are known as fortified foods.

We can conclude that the skin health plays a big role in our overall well-being. Having strong and healthy skin protects our bodies from external germs and infections, and possible damages to bones, muscles, and internal organs.
