6 DIY Ways to Get Rid of Blackheads

Blackheads are common and irritating. They occur when a pore gets clogged with an abundance of sebum and dead skin cells. The distinction between a blackhead and a whitehead is quite simple. Black heads are basically formed in the event when the pore is open and the attachment of sebum/skin cells oxidizes because it is in contact with the oxygen which turns into a noticeable black color. There is a common misconception that blackheads are caused by dirt. As a result of that misconception, many individuals end up scrubbing their skin more than usual which does more harm than good. If you have an oily skin and are prone to having blackheads, then the following tips will make your life a little easy.

1. Honey Pat

Honey is most effective when used in a regular natural skin regimen. After washing your face thoroughly, pour honey on your fingers and evenly apply over the zones where there is a need to expel blackheads. Honey will haul out any external particles in your pores. Massage gently. Do it for two minutes and then wash your face.

2. Egg White Mask

This is an easy mask that can be used to temporarily tighten pores. Egg mask also reduces chances of future blackheads. All you have to do is crack open an egg and remove its yolk. Take a brush and use it to apply a thin layer of the egg white all over your face. Just as soon as it dries, the egg white will stick to the skin and your skin will feel tight. This is how it is supposed to feel. Apply 3-5 layers of egg mask, each after drying. When completely dried, peel it off. As you peel it off and wash your face soon after.

3. Baking Soda and Water

A little baking soda can help you get rid of blackheads, but don’t overdo it, as it can dry out your skin. Baking soda works as a natural and inexpensive way to exfoliate skin and remove anything clogging your pores, therefore causing blackheads. Mix water with 1 part baking soda to form a thick paste. Using circular motion, gently massage the paste onto the troubled zone. Wash thoroughly with plain water and don’t forget to moisturize after you pat your face dry.

4. Cleansing Sugar Scrub

Sometimes, a good exfoliation is needed to slough away dead skin cells. These skin cells can potentially clog up your pores, leading to acne and of course, blackheads. However, exfoliating with a sugar scrub revives circulation and leaves you with soft and glowing skin. Mix 4 tablespoons of olive oil or almond oil into 1 cup of sugar. Stir until everything is mixed well. Wet your face, take some scrub onto your fingertips, and, in circular motions, massage it over your skin. Rinse with water and moisturize as usual. Do this no more than 2-3 times a week, otherwise you risk drying out your skin.

5. Cinnamon and Honey

Here is another easy and quick method to get rid of blackheads. It sounds like a scrumptious treat, yet cinnamon and honey make an awesome blend for disposing of pimples and clearing the skin. Mix together 1 teaspoon of cinnamon with 1 tablespoon of honey, making a paste. Apply this paste to the blackhead area, later wash it off. You can use this natural remedy for blackheads thrice a week.

6. Steam, Cleanse and Honey

Steam your face with water or a hot towel to open up your pores. Allow the steam to open your pores, and then cleanse your skin to remove acne causing bacteria and oil from the skin. Then apply raw honey to your face and leave it for 30 minutes or until it is completely dry. Later, rinse off with warm water.
