Basil seeds, also known as Tukh Malanga, have a long history of use in herbal and Chinese medicine. They are considered as a magic ingredient that can cure several health conditions. Here are some reasons why you must try to eat basil seeds this summer.

In Pakistan, basil seeds are mostly consumed during the holy month of Ramadan, it can act as a coolant and have a soothing effect on the stomach. These seeds can be used in drinks like lemonades, juices, milk, milkshakes, smoothies, yogurt, etc.

Basil seeds are rich in important nutrients like iron, calcium, and magnesium. Each of these ingredients plays an important part in body functions like iron is needed to maintain hemoglobin levels whereas, calcium and magnesium are required for muscles and bones to function properly.

How to Add Basil Seeds to Your Daily Diet

Soak around 2 teaspoons of Basil seeds in a cup of water for around 15 minutes. The seeds will grow and swell up and form a translucent grey film coating around them. You can add these seeds to a variety of drinks and soups. You can consume only 2 to 3  tsp of basin seeds each day.
