World Sight Day Celebrated On The 9th Of October

The objective behind holding a worldwide sight day is to spread awareness about eye diseases, preventative and curative measures, and the causes for loss of vision. According to the World Health Organization, 90% of those who lose their eyesight live in developing or underdeveloped countries. According to experts, 80% of diseases that eventually lead to blindness can easily be cured, given that awareness and adequate treatment is available. There are about 255 million patients of eye diseases; a large proportion of them are women and children. Experts recommend bi-annual eye examinations so that diseases are caught in their early stages and can be treated effectively Sight Day.
