Sanghar Residents Protest Against 6 Day Power Outage
In what has extended to 6 days without electricity, the residents of Sanghar are at their wits end. There is no clean drinking water in their homes and their businesses have gone into losses. Life has become intolerable for the residents as they attempt to maintain their regular routines in the summer heat without the basic utility of electricity. With no respite in sight, they eventually took to the streets and burned tires in front of the press club in protest. The local police was able to break up the protest only after a call of reassurance from WAPDA that they were working on rectifying the issue with the transformer that had caused the prolonged outage.
