Prime Minister Engages Army Chief In Anti-Polio Campaigns
The prime minster Mian Nawaz Sharif has decided to actively participate in the efforts to curb the spread of polio in the country. He has decided to enlist the help of the chief of army staff, Raheel Sharif, along with the services of several other officials. The prime minister is scheduled to address the public on World Polio Day, held worldwide on the 24th of October. He has already issued directives on changes that need to be made to upgrade efforts to curb polio in the country. Orders have been issued to ensure that polio vaccination counters are established and monitored at all hospitals, that the polio task force meets every 3 months instead of after 1 year, and that a special international committee to deal with the polio crisis is set up. He also said that there was a need for third party monitoring of the anti-polio activities in the country to ensure that they were running effectively and smoothly.
