Ninth Phase of ‘Justice for Health’ Campaign Completed

The ninth phase of ‘Sehat Ka Insaaf’ (Justice for Health) campaign was successfully concluded in Peshawar. Oral vaccines for the prevention of polio and nine other potentially fatal diseases were administered to 700,000 children aged 5 years and below. Due to security concerns, authorities imposed section 144 in conjunction to a continuing ban on the use of motorcycles during the course of the campaign.

According to Dr. Akram Shah, focal authority figure for the Peshawar-based campaign, more than 0.7 million children in 96 union council districts have been vaccinated for polio and nine other deadly diseases with the help of 4190 teams.

The campaign could not be extended to the high-risk council of Suleman Khel due to security concerns. With the accomplishment of this recent milestone, Minister of Health Shahram Khan Tarakai shared that several international organizations have not only expressed their approval of the progress of ‘Sehat ka Insaaf’, but have also offered to assist the local authorities to expand the scope and outreach of this endeavor.
