Mianwali: Sacrificial Animals Being Sold At Exorbitant Prices
Eid-Ul-Azha is marked by a spirit of sacrifice and Muslims in Pakistan engage in the religious obligations of this occasion with fervor. However, with Eid-Ul-Azha drawing near, the prices of sacrificial animals have increased exponentially leaving many people uncertain of how to fulfill their obligations. According to the residents of Mianwali, the goats at the mandi are priced between Rs. 20,000-30,000 while the larger animals have a starting price of Rs.80, 000. Those selling the animals justified their high prices by saying that these animals had been specially cared for in terms of diet and health and hence were high priced.
